Your oral hygiene routine should include brushing every morning and night and flossing at least once a day. If you want to go above and beyond and take one step closer to a healthier smile, you can brush your teeth at school after lunch as well. Brushing your teeth at school can help you in a myriad of ways. In fact, it can help you avoid cavities, maintain strong and healthy teeth and gums and even avoid embarrassing moments when food is stuck between your teeth. So, our dentist, Dr. Duane C. Clouse, encourages you to brush at school. To make the task easier, he encourages you to do the following things:

-Pack your toothbrush and toothpaste in your backpack each morning when you leave for school. When you have these tools with you, you can brush whenever you want! To make this even easier, you can buy a separate toothbrush and toothpaste and just keep them in your bag or locker. That way you won’t accidentally forget your oral hygiene tools in the morning when you’re running out the door.

-Remind yourself to brush each day. You can do so by placing a sticky note on your locker door, setting a reminder in your phone or even having a classmate or friend remind you.
